DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE

Ananias Centre was registered as a Voluntary Welfare Organisation since November 1995 to provide student care services and support working parents in the care arrangements for their school-going children.

Ananias (/ænəˈnaɪəs/ AN-ə-NY-əs; Ancient Greek: same as Hebrew חנניה, Hananiah, "favoured of the LORD") of Damascus was a disciple of Jesus at Damascus mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles in the Bible, which describes how he was sent by Jesus to restore the sight of "Saul, of Tarsus" (known later as Paul the Apostle) and provided him with additional instruction in the way of the Lord.

For the last 22 years, Ananias Centre Student Care Centres (SCCs) provide care and supervision to school-going children aged 7 years (Primary 1) to 14 years (Secondary 2).

Our centres provide a SAFE and CONDUCIVE environment for children’s HOLISTIC development in various dimensions – intellectual, emotional, moral, social and physical, as well as a place to REST and RECOVER after school hours.

As part of Ananias Centre’s Vision 2020, the LIFE3 Framework was formulated in January 2018. Our LIFE3 Framework is a strategic approach to guide our educators and nurturers to systematically ideate, plan and execute our academic and non-academic programmes and activities throughout the year.

Our daily service includes supervision of children’s homework, provision of academic-support services, organised play, enrichment and recreational activities. Our centres also organise learning journeys, excursion trips and camps for children during school holidays.

We eagerly look forward to be in your journey to assist you in growing your child’s mind and nurturing his or her heart. Let us journey alongside you!

TESTIMONIALS

S - stability
M - modelling
I - interpersonal
L - love
E - enthusiastic

 "A mother of 2 kids, it gives me a lot of room to make comparisons of the 2 different Student Care Centres that our elder boy had attended & Ananias Centre, especially in areas of our expectations. SMILE would support this testimonial we have about Ananias Centre.

Stability is very important to us. The teachers' strengths lie in their stability despite minimal use of temporary teachers e.g. those who are awaiting for 'A' Level results;

Modelling - The teachers always demonstrate positive role modelling to their students in areas of (just to list a few) respecting others, speaking nicely, having appropriate behaviours/attitudes towards people around them;

Interpersonal. The teachers advocate effective interpersonal skills, believing in building positive relationships with both the students & parents. They even impart such positiveness in their students to manage their relationships with their peers.
Love - The teachers love & care for their students whole-heartedly. But this doesn't mean they will spoil them by giving in to what they want. They will guide and discipline them accordingly in the interest of the child.

Enthusiastic - They always show their commitment and passion in their role as teachers. Apart from academic pursuits, the students' well-being is at the core of their heart! Everything has areas for improvement and Ananias Centre is no exception. With the parents' understanding and the teachers' dedication, we're certain that you'll receive a smiling child everyday when you pick him/her up from Ananias Centre!"

"Both my sons have been with Ananias Centre since year 2014, I have never regretted placing them in this centre as the teachers and aunties took care of them well whileboth my husband and I work.

The Centre has planned activities for after-school care program, which the boys will follow and they usually will try to complete their schoolwork in the centre (this allows them to sleep on time before next day school); the boys also learn how to interact better with other children through games and activities;

During the school holidays, the centre also specially organises some outdoor and enrichment activities which children can take part if they are keen. The staff at the centre work together with parents to bring out the best in each child.

In terms of discipline, this centre holds on to their motto similar to mine; "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it"

This year, my eldest boy had his PSLE and he scored an A for all his subjects. I would like to thank all, especially Mrs Chiam, Mrs Chong, Mr Tan, Mdm Wu, Mr Ben and Aunty Bok for the coaching and care showered upon him during these few years."

"My two kids joined ANANIAS CENTRE CCK branch at the beginning of the year.

I appreciate very much that the teachers at the centre had guided them in the homework after school and fetched them back from CCAs. My two elder kids are now more disciplined and take responsibility for their homework. As a working mother, this really is really helpful.

During school holidays the centre plans several activities for the children and these make their holidays full of fun and joyous. The teachers are patient and always encourage and apprise my kids’ assignments which is important to my kids during their learning.

I would like to thank all the teachers and staff at ANANIAS CENTRE for the efforts rendered."

"Putting our son in the care of the professional teachers at Ananias Centre Ang Mo Kio was a decision we made which has allowed working parents like us to focus and attend to the daily challenges we face at the workplace.

 In addition, the centre teachers give parents the assurance that our son is in good hands. We can see that our son looks forward to his time in the centre and that reinforces our decision. We find that the centre is kept clean and hygienic which we believe will benefit the children and provides a relief to parents.

We are happy that Ananias Centre is able to play the role of our extended help in bringing up our son, Pin Jun. The schoolwork is always completed before he returns home and help is readily available when he comes across any problem. This really translates into more quality time for our family at the end of the day!

Most importantly, Pin Jun enjoys being there! "
